Principal of Sung Siew Secondary School

A shepherd’s duty is to look after his sheep, he must takes care of them well, feeds them, makes sure that they are safe so that finally, his sheep will grow and become mature into useful beings. Similarly, the teacher's role can be illustrated in such a way that it is vividly seen as a vital position in the society. Students, being the sheep are constantly cared for by the teachers, grooming them to become fine individuals through the countless efforts poured in by the caring and dedicated teachers.

In society, the teaching profession has been well-embedded into the daily lives of the people and recognized as one of the most vital professions in the development of a country. Efforts have been put by all the teachers to build a better generation of the population. All the contribution of teachers will be appreciated on the 16th May of the year which is TEACHERS’ DAY. Here I’ll like to wish all the teachers in SM Sung Siew a happy teachers’ day.

An empty mind is the devil’s workshop, so teachers play an important role in importing knowledge to the younger generation to help shape the pupils into useful individuals that can develop the countries. Besides that, teachers too, they help out pupils in need such as those weak in academy so that their talents can be seen in other fields. So from here we can see that, teachers have worked hard in their career to ensure the continuous of our county’s glorious in order not to disappoint our county’s contributors.

On 16th of May, teachers will receive requital from students as appreciation from them. Students will greet their teachers on that day, thousands of thanks are heard everywhere. Students do make many promises to teachers such as that they will pay more attention in class, listen to teacher’s lessons and do well in examinations. So I do hope that students’ action speaks louder than words. Do give teachers a wonderful gift and prove to them that you can really do well in your examination!

Those who aspire to become teachers have no doubt made huge sacrifices of their time and energy to serve the nation in building its foundations. A good teacher is one who willing to learn and to communicate. In the words of Tagore, he is lamp and unless the lamp is burning, others lamps cannot be lit. Furthermore, a good teacher must know how to arouse the interest of the pupil in the field of study for which he is responsible, he must himself be a master in the field and be in touch with the latest developments in his subject.

A life spent worthily should be measured by deeds, not by years. A successful job is not done by how long you have spent on the job but the efforts that you have really put in it. All the students hope that they will be taught by a good teacher, an experience teacher and a teacher who really know the right way to teach them in which they really can learn something from the lesson. The air in the classroom should be filled with love between teacher and his students but not hatred among them. This will affect the acceptations rate of knowledge by students’ brain.  So let the students walk into your life, breathe together with them and lead them to the right path.

Once again, happy teachers’ day and special thanks to all the teachers especially for those who really have worked hard for SM Sung Siew. The students’ accomplishments no matter in academic or co-curricular can be seen by all, this shows the result of successful guidance from the teachers. All the hardships that are done by you all have gained a great appreciation from me.
