Staff Development Course



          On the 22nd of April which was a Saturday, the staff of SM Sung Siew attended a course which was held at the Sepilok Jungle Resort. The purpose of the course was to upgrade the staff’s performance as well as to have fun and foster friendship. The staff were divided into 6 groups.

          At 7.00 a.m., registrations were held, followed by ‘ice-breaker’. At around 7.45 a.m., the principal, Mr. Lee Chin Hoi, gave a speech on etiquette and commitment on the teaching profession. Later, a talk on pro-active teachers was presented by Mdm. Annie Elizabeth, the First Senior Assistant.

          Before having a short break at 10.00 a.m., the Head of the Language Department, Mr. Patrick Lim, gave a talk about stress management. After the break, the Senior Assistant of Student Affairs, Mr. Ganesan gave a talk on lateral thinking. Then, the staff had a ‘true story’ session.

          After they had lunch at 12 noon, there was an ‘Environment Education Race’, presented by Mdm. Grace Foo and Mr. Loh Chee Kwong. Later, there was a telematch and a treasure hunt. All the staff had fun before taking a break. At 3.30 p.m., there was ‘Post Mortem’ and prize presentation by Mr. Lee Chin Hoi. At 4 p.m., the course ended. All the teachers had a wonderful experience during the course.
